AustriaTech is dedicated to shaping the future of mobility by supporting the safe and efficient integration of automated and connected transport systems. As an agency of the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, it serves as a key interface between research, industry, infrastructure operators, mobility service providers and public authorities.
As Austria’s Contact Point for Automated Mobility, AustriaTech is the place to go for companies and research institutions seeking to conduct tests with automated vehicles on public roads. It provides expert guidance on test applications, facilitates regulatory approvals, and ensures that testing procedures comply with national and international legal frameworks. Beyond regulatory support, AustriaTech is actively involved in multiple national and European research projects that explore the real-world deployment of automated and connected mobility solutions.
Each year, AustriaTech publishes a Monitoring Report in German that provides a comprehensive analysis of developments in automated mobility, test activities in Austria, and key findings from ongoing research projects. The English edition contains selected chapters to make Austria's progress in this field available to an international audience. These sections cover key topics such as recent advances in test procedures and active test permits, legal frameworks in Europe and insights gained from national projects and initiatives as well as EU projects such as SHOW, AWARD, and FAME. Through this work, AustriaTech contributes to the ongoing dialogue on the future of automated mobility and its integration into public transport and logistics networks.
