More environmentally friendly, cheaper, safer and also easier to get from A to B is the vision for the mobility of the future. Service-oriented mobility is a possible solution that AustriaTech has been pursuing for years.
By bundling information, added value can be created for users as well as for cities, municipalities and service providers. One vision for service-oriented mobility is MaaS - Mobility as a Service. This mobility concept of the future enables individualised route optimisation using different transport modes and combines travel planning and booking processes. MaaS means "Mobility as a user-oriented service", which combines existing offers from different mobility providers and thus also enables the integration of new services such as Sharing Mobility. For AustriaTech, MaaS is a promising approach to make our mobility system more service-oriented and inclusive. In order to further develop this concept, ITS Austria, with significant support from AustriaTech, set up a working group to analyze the different requirements for MaaS in Austria and to develop possible recommendations for implementation.
New forms of micro-mobility and innovative services such as Sharing Mobility are playing an increasingly important role as the development towards an integrated multimodal transport system continues. Optimizations for the needs of citizens are thus made possible at low cost. Here, AustriaTech supports cities, municipalities and regions in the efficient networking of mobility offers. Internationally, there are projects such as SHAREPLACE, which aim to better integrate mobility offers in regions. Nationally, a guideline on the potential of shared e-scooters was developed in 2019 within the framework of a cooperation with the Association of Austrian Cities and Towns. Furthermore, AustriaTech supports the BMK in the transformation processes of RTI promotion policy through the "Innovation Hub Mobility".
