TRANS-BORDERS+

Innovative mobility solutions to enhance the attractiveness of public transport in border regions

Cross-border connectivity is crucial for people in border regions. However, they often lack efficient services and information about public transport connections in cross-border regions.
The TRANS-BORDERS+ project aims to address this problem by developing solutions with project partners from Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy and Slovenia to make the use of public transport in border regions more attractive with the help of digital mobility services. The pilot regions in this project are the border regions of Saxony - Liberec and Carinthia - Friuli/Venezia/Giulia - Northern Slovenia.
In order to improve travel information in these border regions, a cross-border routing service based on the Linking of Services approach is being set up with the help of the OJP standard. Depending on the border region, either new OJP interfaces will be developed or the existing ones (resulting from the LinkingAlps project) will be improved and equipped with new functionalities. This will enable seamless journey planning for travelers in the border regions. Furthermore, new stops and bus lines are being added or existing ones expanded in the border region to turn them into modern mobility hubs and to test new cross-border mobility services.
