Advancing physical and digital infrastructure for CCAM systems
In PoDIUM, connected, cooperative and automated mobility (CCAM) solutions will be developed, evaluated and demonstrated in real-life conditions in three living labs in Germany, Italy and Spain. In the living labs, a rich set of demanding CCAM use cases will be defined, covering urban, highway and cross-border environments. Through the use cases, the aim is to advance key technologies in the physical and digital part of the infrastructure. For the exchange of data, a data management environment will be implemented, including advanced environment perception models and digital twins. The project will follow a multi-connectivity approach i.e. using ITS-G5, 5G, LTE, 5G mmWave, 60GHz-WiFi, etc. Another focus of the project is the integration of vulnerable road users in the physical and digital infrastructure system. PoDIUM will create a reference architecture that can be applied to various road environments and infrastructure equipment.
PoDIUM co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme. The project runs for three years, from October 2022 to September 2025.
