During the Corona pandemic, it became clear how important smooth goods transport is. For truck drivers, it is crucial to have an intact infrastructure and sufficient parking facilities available. After all, breaks are essential in order to be able to cover long distances safely.
Currently, however, the search for a parking space is often time-consuming and stressful. It is even one of the main reasons why drivers quit their jobs. In order to address the Europe-wide shortage of truck drivers and to secure the future supply of goods, sufficient truck parking spaces must be made available and good supply facilities for drivers must be ensured. But it is not only the drivers who are negatively affected by the long search for truck parking spaces: The environment also suffers from the increased emissions. In Germany alone, more than 83,000 tons of CO2 are produced each year.
The digital parking guidance system from Yunex Traffic, which is based on Telartec technology, can help here. It shows the availability of free parking spaces and supports drivers with the help of telematic systems such as column and/or compact parking. In Austria, the system will be installed for the first time at the Hausruck truck stop on the A8 Innkreis freeway, creating the most modern rest area for heavy traffic in the country there.
With the help of AreaDetection, free parking spaces are monitored. The sensors scan the entire parking area at short intervals, creating an overall picture and thus providing the basis for the automatic assignment of trucks upon entry. By reducing the required infrastructure and providing individual and flexible definition of detection locations, the system enables unrestricted planning freedom.
It is now possible to create more parking spaces and make better use of the available space. An intelligent parking guidance system arranges incoming trucks closely behind each other based on their break time and length to make the best use of available parking space and maximize the number of parking spaces.
Technological progress, the possibilities of digitization, the current state of detection technology, and powerful information systems create the conditions for more intensive use of the existing infrastructure, additional parking space capacities, and a reduction in the burden on drivers looking for parking spaces. There are also numerous advantages for climate protection. Because existing parking spaces at current rest areas can be optimally used, further sealing of ground surfaces can also be counteracted and green spaces preserved.
"The practical and functional suitability of column parking has already been successfully demonstrated in Germany. Telematically controlled parking procedures create more parking space on existing traffic areas. This new technology has also been well received by professional drivers. These solutions from Yunex Traffic, which are comparatively easy to implement, enable freeway operators and their customers to benefit from these advantages," says Alfred Gunacker, Sales Manager of Yunex Traffic Austria.
