This was the ITS Austria Conference 2019

innovative / cooperative / overarching

Around 160 experts took part in the lectures and expert discussions on exciting and diverse topics such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS), C-ITS, data exchange and digitization in mobility.

The conference was opened by section head Prof. Dr. Gerhard Gürtlich, who particularly emphasized the positive development of intelligent transport systems in recent years and the good cooperation of all stakeholders, which is also visible internationally. The Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology thanked Dr. Josef Fiala, who handed over his office as Co-Chair and former Chair of ITS Austria to Bernd Datler after seven years.

This year's motto of the ITS Austria conference was "innovative / cooperative / overarching". It summarizes the challenges and solutions of the mobility system of the future. In 2018, the "digital : networked : mobile" work programme was presented, which includes new responsibilities, projects and models, goals and measures for creating a mobility system that is characterised by efficiency, security, effectiveness and sustainability. The aim of this year's event was to give a comprehensive overview of the development of the measures launched (based on the 2018 work programme) and an outlook on the 2020 annual programme.

Franz Schwammenhöfer (BMVIT) and Martin Böhm (AustriaTech) presented the concept for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in Austria. Details can be found online in the short and long versions (the long version is only available in german). Another focus, which ITS Austria already started in 2018, is the roll-out of C-ITS. ASFINAG presented its current measures on how C-ITS is to be rolled out on the high-level road network by 2020.
